Purchase SV Little Dragon

After a few years of Covid lockdowns and many hours searching on the internet i took the gamble and hopped on a plane from Australia and flew to Langkawi in Malaysia to view the boat, on the first sight with out the broker i was shocked in her condition, she had a full oyster farm growing from beneath the hull, all teak varnish was pealing off, mould and grime on canvas and cabin roof etc, she was very neglected too say the least, so i did not even go onboard to look at her, i was looking at another boat that eventually the sale fell through as the owner passed away. So i contacted the agent and arranged an inspection.

We met at the Rebak Island Ferry Terminal, boarded the ferry and headed over to the marina, once onboard i was amazed how well the inside of the cabin was and all the teak solid woodwork was in beautiful condition, the electrical was bad, batteries had exploded, acid from batteries lying in a pool on battery compartment floor, cables all corroded etc. The engine was rebuilt in 2018 and had 50 hours on the clock after rebuild, she started up with a new battery after sitting idle for 3 years after 6 turns. All cooling systems, seacocks etc require replacing as they were all bonded and electrolysis was evident.

Haulout 2022

A few weeks after the purchase was completed and all paperwork came through, the boat was towed to the travel lift at Rebak Island Resort & Marina where she was hauled out, the last time she was hauled we believe was in 2017/2018. As you can see we had our own private oyster far growing under the hull, osmosis was present and thousands of blisters were seen after the hull was scraped and pressure washed, one thing for sure was the thru hull fittings were in urgent need of replacement, this was partly due to age, bonding all metals in boat and electrolysis in the marina, there is a high amount of electrolysis in Rebak so make sure you have a good galvanic isolator installed on board, this boat have none installed.

After the boat was washed,  she was parked in her bay on the hardstand, stands in place and travel lift returned back to slipway.
